On April 23, 2025, the President of Astana International University, Serik Aztaevich Irsaliyev, and the Director of the Center for International Studies, Saniya Moryakovna Nurdauletova, represented AIU at the prestigious international roundtable "National and Global AI Governance: Perspectives from the U.S. and Kazakhstan," organized by the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University.

The event was officially opened by Professor Mark C. Elliott, Vice Provost for International Affairs at Harvard University, Director of the Davis Center Eve Blau, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek.

A key milestone of the roundtable was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan and the Davis Center at Harvard — an important step toward strengthening cooperation in education, science, and technology.

The central topics of the discussions were:

  • AI in higher education and science — from new educational technologies to training specialists for the economy of the future;

  • AI and geopolitics — how national strategies and global challenges shape the rules of the digital age.

Experts from Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Kazakhstani universities, as well as representatives of government and private organizations, shared unique insights into the development of artificial intelligence and its impact on international relations.

The discussions took place in the format of thematic presentations, live debates, and exchanges of ideas. Special attention was given to issues such as the integration of AI into educational processes, the development of national technology regulation strategies, and ensuring digital security. Participants emphasized the need for international cooperation and the exchange of best practices to foster ethical and sustainable AI development.

By representing Kazakhstan on such a prestigious international platform, AIU once again reaffirmed its status as a dynamically developing university open to global academic and scientific dialogue.
