As part of the implementation of the scientific project funded under
the 2025– 2027 grant program of the Ministry
of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an expert
meeting dedicated to nuclear disarmament and the peaceful resolution of conflicts was held
online via the ZOOM platform on 24 September 2025.
The meeting was organized within the framework
of the project AP26100031
“The International Mediation Hub as a Tool for Peaceful Conflict Resolution and
Nuclear Disarmament: The Experience of Kazakhstan and Foreign Countries.”
The event was opened by the project leader, PhD
Sholpan Saimova, who emphasized the importance of advancing both national and
international research agendas in the field of global security.
The session was moderated by senior researcher,
Candidate of Juridical Sciences A.S. Irzhanov. In his presentation, he
introduced the concept of establishing an International Mediation Hub as a
platform for mediating inter-state disputes and promoting initiatives in the
field of nuclear disarmament. Potential areas of activity, preliminary
structure, and the future role of the hub in the global security system were
outlined.
Senior
researcher A.A. Bolat also delivered a report highlighting the theoretical
aspects of nuclear disarmament. Independent international expert A.Z. Tainov
and Director of the NGO Center for International Security and Policy A.T.
Akhmetov contributed to the
discussion, stressing the relevance and significance of the project under current conditions.
Summarizing the results of the meeting,
participants underlined that the initiative to establish the International Mediation
Hub fully corresponds to the global agenda of strengthening trust,
developing peaceful means
of conflict resolution, and promoting nuclear disarmament — areas where Kazakhstan has
traditionally taken an active stance.
