From October 15 to 17, the 4th International Chemistry Olympiad among university students was held at the Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The Olympiad was conducted in an individual competition format, and students from our university participated in Category A, competing on an equal footing with science-track students.

For the second consecutive year, Nurlan Kairov (1st-year Master's student, specialty 7M01503 – “Chemistry”) and Aslanbek Akramov (2nd-year Bachelor’s student, specialty 6B01503 – “Chemistry”) won bronze medals, taking 3rd place individually. Over four years, our team has earned 9 medals in total: Nurlan Kairov (recipient of the “Best Student of 2025” award) – 3 silver and 2 bronze, Kali Asanali – 1 silver, and Aslanbek Akramov – 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.

More than 250 students from 24 foreign universities — including Russia, Romania, China, Kazakhstan, Kalmykia, Italy, Iran, the UK, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan — as well as 150 students from 23 Turkmen universities took part. The jury included professors and experts from Turkmenistan and abroad, among them independent specialists from Japan. The tasks covered 5 subjects and were of a high academic and complex level, to be completed within 4 hours (compared to 8 hours at the 2024 Olympiad).

Students also presented research at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Role of Innovative Technologies in Improving Chemistry Teaching Methods” and received international certificates.

A distinctive feature of this Olympiad was that our university made history — the opening ceremony was entrusted to the Kazakhstani participant Nurlan Kairov, and AIU was honored with closing the event.

International Olympiads play an important role in strengthening friendship among students, offering young people the opportunity to learn from global best practices in chemistry and enhance their professional skills.

On October 21, 2025, a ceremony was held to honor our team’s winners. Congratulations were extended by First Vice-President Anar Bazarovna, Director of the Pedagogical Institute Zhanna Kuanyshevna, Head of Department Yerlan Syrymovich, and Professor Binur Khabasovna. The students received prizes and letters of appreciation from AIU President Serik Aztaevich Irsaliyev.
