The administration of Astana International University (AIU) and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in China convened an official meeting with delegates from the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Subsequent to the deliberations, the parties formalized an agreement to inaugurate a branch of the institution in Kazakhstan.

During the gathering, which convened in the capital of the People's Republic of China, it was underscored that the establishment of a BLCU branch in our country constitutes a logical progression of the enduring partnership between the two nations in the realms of science, education, and culture.

The branch will accommodate the "HSK Center" (a facility dedicated to the study and assessment of the Chinese language) to evaluate the proficiency levels of students engaged in Chinese language studies. Furthermore, pursuant to the agreement, dual-degree programs will be implemented for students hailing from both nations.

BLCU stands as a preeminent educational institution in China, specializing in humanities, with a storied history of having graduated approximately 300,000 foreign students over the course of its six decades of existence.

On March 02, 2024, the Pedagogical Institute of Astana International University, together with the KING Chess Academy, held a city chess tournament among students from schools in the city of Astana.

36 students from the following schools in Astana took part in the tournament: No. 2, No. 5, No. 32, No. 37 named after. Syrbai Maulenova, No. 54 named after. Akselev Seydimbek, No. 59 named after. Karim Mynbaeva, No. 71, No. 77, No. 91, No. 91 Bahrain school, No. 92 named after. Akzhan Al-Mashani, No. 95, Binom school named after A. Baitursynov, Binom school named after Kanysh Satbaev, Binom school named after. Y. Altynsarina, NIS Astana, BIL, Intellectual Generation School, Riviera International School, Zerdeli Internetional School, Riviera international school, Flagman school, No. 81 "Astana English School".

At the grand opening of the tournament, talented AIU students performed a concert program, and teachers also spoke about the university for the participating schoolchildren of the city. National arbiters were involved, judges of the KING Chess Academy - Ruslan Merey, Asylzhan Issina and Madi Ibragimov. The tournament consisted of 9 rounds in the Rapid format.

The winners were:

- 1st place diploma was held to a student of the Binom school named after A. Baitursynov - Zhumabekov Shakhmardan;

- 2nd place diploma- Binom school named after A. Baitursynov - Zhasan Miras;

- 3rd place diploma for student from No. 32 of the gymnasium school - Hansuar Askar.

- a student of school-lyceum No. 77, Sagyndyk Dana, received a diploma for first place among girls.

At the end of the tournament, the winners were awarded cash certificates from the MARWIN, and all participants were given letters of gratitude.

On March 14, 2024, students of the Higher School of Art and Design, together with teachers, were able to witness the musical comedy "The Secret of the Spouses". The students received a positive impression of the actors' performance at an excellent level. The musical comedy is great, the atmosphere is good. The performance was accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the theater, which importantly touches the heart of every young person. The joint cultural trip to the theater was interesting, everyone got a sincere pleasure from watching the play, a boost of energy from the actors playing, the performance and visiting the theater.

On March 13, the meeting with representatives of the organization of the Scout movement in Kazakhstan was organized for students of the Higher School of Natural Sciences. The scouts talked about their activities, training in outdoor recreation skills, as well as opportunities to work as counselors in summer camps. During the meeting, the students showed great interest in the activities of the Scouts of Kazakhstan and actively asked questions. Participation in the Scout movement opens up unique opportunities for students to develop teamwork, leadership and event management skills. It is also a great way to spend an active summer, saturating it with vivid impressions and acquiring new skills that will be useful in your future career!

"Mentor Me" is a series of seminars where students teach students. This time, the mentor was Bereket Barmakov, a first-year student majoring in Biology. During the seminar, he talked about the basics of mobile photography, how he got into mobile photography, and the future prospects of this field. Using a random number generator, Bereket selected one student for comprehensive training in mobile photography from A to Z. The lucky winner turned out to be Meirzhan Sairanov, a first-year student majoring in Ecology.

On February 29, 2024, for students of the educational program 6B01501 - “Informatics”, 7M01501 - Computer Science and the teaching staff of Astana International University, a guest lecture was held by candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor of West Kazakhstan University named after M. Utemisov Medeshova A.B.

As part of the guest lecture by Medeshova A.B. Issues of digitalization of education, the use of artificial intelligence were raised, and the results of the project on the topic “Part-time learning in the context of digitalization of vocational education” were shown. The lecturer demonstrated the operation of the edtime.kz platform, and discussed issues of attaching to it, maintaining and working on the platform.

On March 15, 2024,The Federation for Sports Programming, with the support of the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, held a competition for promoting Kazakh-language content on programming on YouTube. The main goal of this competition is to actively spread knowledge about programming in the Kazakh language, involving the widest possible audience.

The competition is also aimed at promoting the development of the Kazakh-speaking programming community, creating a space for knowledge and experience exchange, thereby facilitating integration into the global programming community. The total prize fund of the competition amounted to 1,000,000 KZT.

According to the competition rules, each participant was required to upload at least three videos in the Kazakh language to their YouTube channel. Students from the 3rd year of the educational program «Computer Engineering and Software», Ondas Suynkhanov and Shapagat Serikova, participated in this competition and became the winners.

The historic moment came on March 2, 2024, within the walls of Astana International University, on this day the grand opening of the «AIU kids University», the first of its kind in Astana, took place. Since that day, AIU University has joined the prestigious global movement of Children's Universities EUCUNET, opening up wide horizons of science and opportunities for young minds. This project is designed to inspire and motivate children to self-development, search for new ideas and creativity, and scientific activities in the future.

Scientists of the Pedagogical Institute of Natural Sciences met with students of grades 5-6 of Binom school, gymnasium schools No. 78, No. 73.

An exhibition of scientific and technical creativity of students "AIU" was launched in five classrooms of the university: INVASION OF KNOWLEDGE" – robots, exciting experiments, inventions that cause surprise and admiration in the fields of mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology.

At the official part, a symbolic key was handed over from the hands of a scientist, Professor Musayeva Binur Gabbasovna to schoolchildren who became the first students of our Children's University.  This moment is a symbol of the transfer of scientific knowledge, experience and skills from the older generation to the younger. This key transfer has become a symbol of the well-being and prosperity of our Children's University!

The Cultural Representation of the Iranian Embassy in Kazakhstan initiates various events aimed at strengthening friendly relations between states and presenting the cultural heritage of their country. One of such events is an exhibition of calligraphic rarities and a master class by famous Iranian calligraphers for students of the Higher School of Art and Design.

On February 27 this year, Dean of the Higher School of Art and Design Sayat Baymuratuly Ybyry and Dean of the Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities Ibraeva Aigerim Yergalievna visited the Cultural Representation of Iran in Astana, where they met with the Cultural Adviser of the Iranian Embassy in Kazakhstan, Mr. Ali Akbar Talebi Matin.The purpose of the visit is to identify the main areas of cooperation in the field of humanitarian research and art, as well as new prospects for Kazakh–Iranian cooperation at the level of educational activities with Astana International University.

The award ceremony " Best University Lecturer — 2023", which was held on March 1-2, 2024 at the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan with the participation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan S. Nurbek, became an important event in the education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

Alibek Baktybayevich Barlybayev, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Information Technology and Engineering at Astana International University, became one of the honored owners of the prestigious award "Best University Lecturer — 2023". His work, commitment to high standards of education and innovative teaching methods have been recognized by the educational community. Alibek Baktybaevich Barlybaev is a teacher who has a deep understanding of his activities and effectively transmits knowledge to students. His teaching methods are characterized by an innovative approach and the use of modern technologies. He strives not only to impart knowledge to his students, but also to inspire them to seek new knowledge and research.

Congratulations to Senior Lecturer of the Higher School of Natural Sciences, Aiman Karabalayeva, on being awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of «6D011300 – Biology»!

Her dissertation titled «Monitoring of visual system indicators in students and scientific and methodological basis for implementing the results in higher education» was defended on December 8, 2023, at the dissertation council of Abai KazNPU.
