On February 23, 2024, the Higher School of Law and the Department of Student Affairs of the Astana International University organized and held a meeting of students with the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office of the city of Astana - Saduakas Zhangir Raiymbekuly and Anuarov Gylymkozha Abdikaugaly.

Gylymkozha Abdikahuly noted that the problem of drug addiction among young people today is becoming a problem all over the world. This is because nine out of ten drug addicts are unlikely to receive full treatment. Most of them do not live to be 40 years old. The bulk of drug users are young people aged 18 to 30 years. However, unfortunately, recently children and teenagers are among those who use drugs. Therefore, representatives of the prosecutor's office and the competent authorities for youth affairs put drug addiction prevention efforts at the forefront.

Zhangir Raiymbekuly spoke about plant and synthetic drugs and their compounds. He also warned that the illegal use, manufacture, storage, purchase, transportation, sale and advertising of drugs is subject to criminal liability and punishment in the form of imprisonment.

Prosecutors devoted a separate part of their speech to an appeal not to participate in gambling, and it is better to devote free time to loved ones and personal growth. To summarize, gambling addiction often ends in prolonged depression, the commission of serious crimes, even suicide.

Students were also told about measures to protect themselves from fraudulent activities related to financial pyramids and gambling addiction.

The students were shown videos and given real examples from the professional experience of a prosecutor, and they received detailed answers to their questions.

This event was attended by the director of the Department of Student Affairs of the AIU A.T. Tlesheva, Deputy Dean of the Higher School of Law Zh.D. Seilkhanov, manager of the student affairs department K.S. Bakenova, curator of HSL A.K. Elubekova.
