Roundtable "Children's University Network of Kazakhstan: Experience Exchange and Development Prospects"

On April 23, 2025, a roundtable on the development of the Children's University Network of Kazakhstan was held at Astana International University within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "AIU-2025: Kazakhstan and the International Educational Space: Cooperation for the Future."
The event took place in a hybrid format — in person (Astana, Building 1, Room 207) and online (via Zoom platform).

The moderator of the roundtable was Saule Kairollovna Damekova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the "Informatics" Educational Program of the Pedagogical Institute at AIU.
Participants included Saltanat Manarbekovna Bolysbekova, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, leaders of the Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Geography departments of the Children's University of AIU, as well as Gulim Sailaubekovna Karimova, PhD, Deputy Director of the Pedagogical Institute, Head of the "English Language" Educational Program at AIU — Aliya Amangeldiyevna Akimkhanova.
The event opened with welcoming remarks by Zhanna Kuanyshevna Akhmadieva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Director of the Pedagogical Institute.

Presentations at the roundtable were delivered by:
• Jolanta Rozowska, President of the European Children's Universities Network (Poland), who spoke about the development of Children's Universities in Poland;
• Liza Naviy, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor at Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University (online), who discussed the organization of a Children's University in the context of global competency formation;
• Saule Kairollovna Damekova, who presented the experience of AIU's Children's University in the format of open education for children.

During the open discussion, N.N. Nurmukhanbetova, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Head of the Children's University at Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University, emphasized the strategic shift from experimental initiatives to the systemic integration of Children's Universities into the university and regional development ecosystems.

Key areas for development were discussed: scientific elaboration of educational initiatives, project-based learning involving university students, transformation of developments into sustainable formats, and commercialization of educational products.
The participants prepared a joint statement proposing the inclusion of these areas into the strategic development plans of universities and ensuring financial support at the initial stages of project implementation.

As part of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "AIU-2025: Kazakhstan and the International Educational Space: Cooperation for the future", organized by Astana International University on April 23, 2025, the Higher School of Economics held a round table on the topic: "Adapting education to the modern needs of an economically active person". This event, traditionally held for the second year in a row in accordance with the research plan "Adaptive Economy Model", is aimed at promoting sustainable development Goals, especially in terms of stimulating sustainable economic growth and employment, ensuring inclusive and high-quality education, as well as developing international cooperation in the field of education.

The moderator of the round table was Doctor of Economics, Professor Kazhyken Meiram Zekeshuly, Head of the School of Adaptive Economics at the Higher School of Economics. During the discussions, the participants actively raised the issues of transforming educational programs, taking into account the demands of the modern economy, increasing entrepreneurial activity and developing human capital as a key resource for sustainable development. Presentations by scientists, invited speakers, and experts from various fields were full of practical examples, research results, and constructive suggestions.

The round table became a platform for productive dialogue between scientists, young researchers, doctoral students, undergraduates and interested students, facilitating the exchange of experience and strengthening scientific ties. All the presentations aroused great interest, which indicates the high level of relevance of the topics discussed. At the end of the event, in a solemn atmosphere, the participants were presented with the monograph of Professor Kazhiken M.Z. "Human capital and human potential", which was the result of research work within the framework of the Adaptive Economy Model project for 2024.

AIU on the Global Stage: Participation in the International Roundtable at Harvard University

On April 23, 2025, the President of Astana International University, Serik Aztaevich Irsaliyev, and the Director of the Center for International Studies, Saniya Moryakovna Nurdauletova, represented AIU at the prestigious international roundtable "National and Global AI Governance: Perspectives from the U.S. and Kazakhstan," organized by the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University.

The event was officially opened by Professor Mark C. Elliott, Vice Provost for International Affairs at Harvard University, Director of the Davis Center Eve Blau, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek.

A key milestone of the roundtable was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan and the Davis Center at Harvard — an important step toward strengthening cooperation in education, science, and technology.

The central topics of the discussions were:

  • AI in higher education and science — from new educational technologies to training specialists for the economy of the future;

  • AI and geopolitics — how national strategies and global challenges shape the rules of the digital age.

Experts from Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Kazakhstani universities, as well as representatives of government and private organizations, shared unique insights into the development of artificial intelligence and its impact on international relations.

The discussions took place in the format of thematic presentations, live debates, and exchanges of ideas. Special attention was given to issues such as the integration of AI into educational processes, the development of national technology regulation strategies, and ensuring digital security. Participants emphasized the need for international cooperation and the exchange of best practices to foster ethical and sustainable AI development.

By representing Kazakhstan on such a prestigious international platform, AIU once again reaffirmed its status as a dynamically developing university open to global academic and scientific dialogue.

RESULTS OF THE ROUND TABLE "NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN TOURISM: EDUCATION, DIGITALIZATION, BUSINESS": CONTRIBUTION TO THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT....

On April 23, 2025, at Astana International University, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "AIU-2025: Kazakhstan and the International Educational Space: Cooperation for the Future," a round table was held on the topic "New Technologies in Tourism: Education, Digitalization, Business."

The event brought together representatives of the academic community, the tourism industry, and the business sector, including the International University of Tourism and Hospitality, Global Air - American Express, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken", the national company "Kazakh Tourism", the Astana Tourism Development Center, UNDP, "Ibis Astana", the Center for Urban Tourism Development, and others. Key topics discussed: training of personnel for tourism under conditions of digital transformation, experience of dual education and its impact on graduates' career trajectories, prospects for the development of dual programs in the tourism industry, the role of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" in the development of entrepreneurship in the tourism sector, educational and research initiatives of the national company "Kazakh Tourism", prospects for the development of tourism in the city of Astana.

The theme of the round table is directly related to SDG 8 "Decent Work and Economic Growth" and SDG 4 "Quality Education", contributing to the development of sustainable tourism, the creation of new jobs, and the expansion of educational opportunities for young people.

During the final discussion, issues related to strengthening cooperation between universities and tourism companies, enhancing the practical focus of educational programs, and introducing modern digital solutions to improve the quality of specialist training were addressed.

Today, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "AIU-2025: Kazakhstan and the International Educational Space: Cooperation for the Future" took place. 🌿 "Clean Kazakhstan" Environmental Week Has Started! 🌿

From April 21 to 26, an ecological marathon is being held across all regions of the country as part of the national "Clean Kazakhstan" initiative. This is a special week that unites hundreds of events and campaigns aimed at environmental protection!

🔹 The Environmental Week was launched in Astana with a national eco-festival. The festival brought together volunteers, eco-activists, startup owners, industrial enterprises, and representatives from educational institutions.

🔹 During the festival, those who contributed to ecological development were honored in various categories:

  • "Best Environmental Education Institution,"
  • Children's Drawing Contest on the theme of Water Conservation,
  • "Green University" project,
  • "Best Ecological Startup."

🎉 We are proud: First-year students from the School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE) of Astana International University actively participated in the exhibition held as part of the eco-festival and presented their creative works and eco-ideas! 🌱👏

🟢 Our students' initiatives are a step toward a greener future!
They demonstrated their environmentally conscious attitude through ecological projects, recycled crafts, and educational materials.

📍 According to the Ministry, around 200 ecological campaigns will be held nationwide throughout the week. This initiative calls on every citizen to protect nature and cultivate environmental awareness.
