"Alash Lawyers": A Lecture on Law, History, and Independence Held at AIU

As part of the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an open lecture titled "Alash Lawyers" was held at Astana International University on March 17, 2025. The speaker of the event was a member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and an honored lawyer of the country, Kuspan Abzal Temirgalievich. The lecture was attended by students of the "History" and "International Relations" programs, as well as university faculty members.

The speaker's presentation provided participants with a deeper understanding of the formation of the national legal system. Kuspan Abzal Temirgalievich spoke about the role of the lawyers of the Alash movement in shaping Kazakhstan's independence, their bold reforms, commitment to justice, and unwavering defense of national interests. A Republican Scientific Seminar Kicked Off at AIU: How Data is Changing Approaches to Historical Research

Today, the long-awaited Republican Scientific Seminar titled "The Importance of Data in Scientific Research: Analysis and Application Features" kicked off at Astana International University. The event brought together leading historians, archaeologists, scientists, and students interested in research and historical heritage.

The seminar has become a vibrant platform for exchanging unique knowledge and practical experience in analyzing historical data. AIU students had the exclusive opportunity to hear expert opinions firsthand, ask questions, and engage in discussions on pressing topics.

The first day of the seminar was rich and productive:

  • Darkhan Kydyrali, Senator of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, professor, and Doctor of Historical Sciences, delivered a lecture on methods of analyzing and systematizing historical data, emphasizing their crucial role in understanding national values and historical science.

  • Älimakyn Duysenali, journalist and Bolashak program scholar, presented his findings on Kazakhstani materials discovered in U.S. archives. These materials sparked great interest among students, broadening their perspectives on international sources and Kazakhstan’s role in global historical contexts.

  • Additionally, Zhanbolat Kazanbayev, head of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage at the Bozok Museum, shared insights into the history of the Bozok city and its significance in archaeological research.

AIU students actively participated in discussions, asking insightful questions and sharing their thoughts.

The seminar will continue until February 28, 2025, with many more fascinating presentations, discussions, and discoveries ahead.

AIU Psychology Students Join Academic Mobility Program at HSE in Moscow

Students of the 2nd year of the "6B03103 – Psychology" educational program at the International University of Astana – Raats Ekaterina Alexandrovna, Mustafina Samira Sungadovna, Yesalieva Ayanat Talgatovna, Mukhit Amina Kuanyshkyzy, as well as 3rd-year student Amantaeva Diana Batyrbekovna – are currently studying under the academic mobility program at one of Russia's leading universities, the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" (HSE University) in Moscow.

As part of their studies at HSE University, the students are attending courses that help deepen their theoretical knowledge and acquire essential practical skills in psychology:

  • "Psychiatry" – a discipline introducing the fundamentals of psychiatry, including the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders. 🏥
  • "Psychogenetics" – a course focused on understanding the hereditary and environmental factors influencing an individual's psychological characteristics. 🧬
  • "Psychology of Motivation and Emotions" – a subject dedicated to the basics of motivational, volitional, and emotional processes, their analysis, and regulation. 🌟
The students sincerely thank the leadership of the International University of Astana for the opportunity to study at HSE University. Forum of the National Congress of Historians of Kazakhstan: Discussion of the Nation's History and Future Research

On January 25, 2025, the Forum of the National Congress of Historians of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. The event was attended by the State Advisor, Yerlan Karin. The gathering brought together 300 representatives of the country's scientific community, including research historians, university professors, public figures, and media representatives.

During the plenary session and seven working sections of the forum, participants discussed the analysis, systematization, and introduction of new data in archaeology, ethnography, ethnology, and historical geography into academic circulation. The forum also reviewed the results of research conducted by Kazakhstani scholars in foreign archives, museums, and library collections.

One of the key topics of the meeting was the discussion of progress in preparing the new academic publication "The History of Kazakhstan: From Antiquity to Modern Times." The project involves five research institutes and more than 250 scholars from across the country.

Representatives from the Astana International University were invited to participate in the forum, including Associate Professor, Candidate of Historical Sciences Gulmira Kabylanovna Asanova; Candidate of Historical Sciences Kundyzai Myrzashkyzy Yerimbetova; Senior Lecturer, PhD Adiet Kairken Baltagulovich; and Senior Lecturer Meruert Doktyrkhanovna Tlebaldiyeva. Candidate of Historical Sciences, PhD, and Associate Professor of the Higher School of Humanities and Natural Sciences, Gulmira Kabylankyzy Asanova, is the author of one of the chapters in Volume 7 (covering the independence period) of the new academic publication "The History of Kazakhstan from Ancient Times to the Present."

Participants delivered speeches praising the preparation of the multi-volume academic work dedicated to the history of Kazakhstan. They also emphasized the need to expand research on archaeological and historical-cultural monuments, develop archival studies and regional research, and improve textbooks and teaching methods in history.

Festive Concert in honor of «Psychology Week»

On December 4, 2024, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at our university hosted the grand opening of «Psychology Week», organized by the students of the Psychology program under the guidance of Nurshat Zhumatkyzy Zhumatova. This event became a true celebration of creativity, science, and unity, leaving all participants with a wealth of vivid impressions.

The event began with the inauguration of the new «Psychological Laboratory». The symbolic ceremony was conducted by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Sayat Baimuratuly Ybyrai, who emphasized that the laboratory would serve as an essential platform for scientific research and educational projects.

The festivities continued with a concert, where students showcased their talents. The program included:

  • Dance performances, featuring both traditional Kazakh dances and contemporary choreography;
  • Musical acts, ranging from songs accompanied by guitar to vocal duets and instrumental compositions;
  • Dynamic flash mobs that brought together students from different courses in creative performances.

Each performance reflected the high level of preparation and creativity of the participants. The concert became a vibrant demonstration of their multifaceted talents, offering the audience a warm atmosphere and a sense of inspiration.

The event was masterfully hosted by Temirlan Svankulov and Borebaeva Nazerke, who guided the program with professionalism, creating an uplifting and celebratory mood. Concluding the concert, Temirlan invited the esteemed guests and faculty members of the Psychology program to share their thoughts. In their speeches, the guests highlighted the excellent organization of the event, the students' remarkable performances, and the importance of such initiatives for the university's development and the promotion of psychological science.

These heartfelt words served as the perfect finale to a rich and inspiring day, which filled all participants with positive emotions and marked a bright beginning to «Psychology Week».

On December 5, 2024, as part of the "Psychology Week," a guest lecture on the topic of "Applied Behavior Analysis: What You Need to Know" was held at the Higher School of Arts and Humanities of Astana International University.

The guest of the lecture was Altynai Kuanyshovna Akhmetjanova, a professional behavioral analyst with many years of experience in the field. During her presentation, she discussed the key principles of applied behavior analysis, its application in educational and therapeutic practices, and the importance of this field in contemporary psychology.

Altynai Kuanyshovna paid special attention to the practical aspects of the behavioral analyst's work, including methods for working with children with special educational needs and tools for shaping and correcting behavior. On December 5, 2024, as part of the "Psychology Week," a guest lecture on the topic of "Social Engineering: Psychological Mechanisms of Manipulation and Protection from Influence" was held at the Higher School of Arts and Humanities of Astana International University.

The invited speaker was Nurar Zhumatov, a master’s degree holder and specialist in information security. During the lecture, he provided a detailed explanation of how social engineering methods are used to manipulate people's behavior, the psychological mechanisms behind such influences, and how to effectively protect oneself from them.

Special attention was given to modern examples of social engineering, including fraudulent schemes, phishing attacks, and other methods aimed at obtaining confidential information.
