It is worth noting that the guest lecture was held in Kazakh, Mr. Adamson is fluent in Kazakh and shared his secrets of learning foreign languages.

On June 4, 2025, on the eve of World Environment Day, a formal meeting took place at Astana International University between the university's president, Serik Aztaevich Irsaliev, and the Chair of the Association of Practicing Environmentalists, Laura Malikova.

During the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at enhancing the professional training of environmental science students.

The document outlines the parties’ mutual intentions to collaborate in the following key areas:

·         organization and facilitation of professional internships for students;

·         support in the future employment of graduates;

·         implementation of joint educational and research initiatives in the field of environmental protection.

The signing of the memorandum marks an important step in strengthening the ties between academia and the professional community, opening new opportunities for practice-oriented learning and the development of highly qualified environmental specialists.

“We sincerely thank the Association of Practicing Environmentalists and Ms. Laura Malikova personally for their commitment to collaboration and their contribution to the advancement of environmental education in Kazakhstan.  On May 27, 2025, a roundtable discussion was held at our university on the topic: “The Role of Networking in Advancing Environmental Initiatives Related to POPs and Obsolete Pesticides.”

 The event brought together scientists and experts, representatives of environmental NGOs, international organizations working in the field of sustainable development and chemical safety, as well as government officials.

 The core of the discussion focused on the role of networking and cross-sectoral collaboration: how joint efforts by the scientific community, civil society, international institutions, and authorities help promote environmental initiatives, enhance knowledge exchange, and accelerate the implementation of sustainable solutions for managing POPs and hazardous legacy chemicals.

 During the discussion, participants shared successful case studies, explored challenges and opportunities for cross-sectoral synergy, and outlined steps to expand professional networks and platforms for cooperation.

            In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal, Senior Lecturer of the Higher School of Natural Sciences of Astana International University, Nurkuigan Srazhadinovna Auezova, held a master class on the topic of “Preparing Healthy Food” with 2nd-year students of the specialties 6B05101 “Biology” and 6B05203 “Recreational Geography and Tourism”.

            During the event, a presentation was delivered on health-beneficial products and their importance for the human body, followed by a practical master class on how to prepare them.

            The master class was attended by Daulet Akkozhin, an international judo competition medalist and Master of Sport, who shared his views on healthy eating. He also demonstrated how he prepares the healthy drinks he uses in his daily life and offered valuable advice to the students.

            The master class had great educational value for the students. The benefits of natural drinks that can be easily made from fruits and vegetables were clearly explained. This increased the students’ interest in proper nutrition and motivated them to lead a healthy lifestyle.

On April 18, 2025, Deputy Dean of the Higher School of Natural Sciences Madina Kazhimerovna Karibaeva and Chairperson of the “Clean and Green” Eco-Club Karakoz Nagashybaykyzy Nagashybayeva (3rd year student of the “Ecology and Nature Management” program) took part in a dialogue platform on the topic “How students can change the ecological environment in universities: a conscious approach to the future of the planet”, organized by the youth wing of the NPO “NPC” Jas Orta as part of the republican campaign “Taza Kazakhstan”.

Karibayeva M.K. and Nagashybayeva K.N. shared their experience in implementing environmental initiatives and spoke about the implementation of sustainable environmental practices among students.

During the event, the participants discussed the importance of developing environmental culture among young people, conscious consumption, waste sorting and recycling, as well as the active participation of students in improving the environmental situation.

On April 9, 2025, a video contest was held, where students of the specialty "Recreational Geography and Tourism" presented short videos about their profession. 🌍✨🏅 The winners were awarded with diplomas:

The 1st place was taken by the RGiT-23A group 1 - for the originality, emotional presentation and expressive visual style of the video clip.

 The 2nd place was awarded to the RGiT-23B group for professional installation and a deep look at tourism as a way of life.

The 3rd place was awarded to two groups: RGiT-22 and RGiT-23B - for their creative approach and team spirit.

We sincerely thank all participants of the contest! All participants demonstrated a sincere love for their future profession and a vision for the future of tourism and geography! Each video is a reflection of your personal attitude towards your profession and future career.

On April 9, 2025, a meeting of the Academic Committee of the Higher School of Natural Sciences was held to update the educational program "Ecology and Nature Management". The meeting was attended by Dana Zhanibekovna Agybaeva, Chief Expert of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aigul Zulkharnayevna Zhumadilova, Head of ESG Trend LLP, Zhanseit Farkhat, Director of Ecoservice-S LLP, as well as other specialists and experts from organizations directly working in the field of environmental protection, environmental consulting, nature management and sustainable development.

An open dialogue between the university and employers made it possible to determine the requirements for the competencies of future graduates: what knowledge and practical skills a modern ecologist should have, what criteria for selecting graduates are used by employers when hiring, and what specific changes need to be made to the educational program to train in-demand and competitive specialists. Employers emphasized the need to strengthen practice-oriented disciplines and introduce real cases and practical tasks from professional activities into the educational process. It was recommended to include in the program disciplines related to environmental management, sustainable development, ESG reporting, environmental auditing, as well as digital tools for environmental monitoring.

Academic committees are an effective platform for strengthening the connection between science, education and business, and most importantly, they play an important role in the formation of the country's professional human resources potential in the field of ecology and sustainable development.

On April 10, 2025, a meeting of the academic committee of the Higher School of Economics on Recreational Geography and Tourism was held in a mixed format with the participation of potential employers in order to update the educational program, adapt the content of curricula to the changing requirements of the labor market and new trends in the field of tourism and recreation.

Senior teachers of the Higher School of Natural Sciences of Astana International University Auezova Nurkuigan Srazhaddinovna and Zhanabaeva Saltanat Amanzholovna held a meeting with students of the School-Lyceum No. 85 named after Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in Astana. During the meeting, the opportunities provided by the Higher School of Natural Sciences of Astana International University were discussed.

            That is:

- Educational programs and areas of study were discussed;

- Exchange of information about the benefits of studying at AIU;

- Discussed prospects for employment and career growth;

- Answers to students' questions about admission and student life

From April 3 to 5, 2025, the International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Researchers “Farabi World” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty.

We are proud to announce that Nuray Toktagazina, a 3rd-year student of the Higher School of Natural Sciences, majoring in 6B05101 – Biology, won 3rd place in the section titled “Biology and Issues of Biodiversity Conservation”.

On April 7, 2025, at the Higher School of Natural Sciences, a curator hour was held in group RG&T-24B on the topic "Life Without Illusions." The event was conducted by the group’s curator — Adilkhan Armanovich Smailov.
The theme of the meeting is extremely important and relevant — the prevention of drug addiction and the development of a conscious approach to life.
During the curator hour, students discussed the reasons behind harmful habits, their consequences, and the value of sober thinking and a healthy lifestyle.
The students actively participated in the conversation, shared their opinions, and reflected on how to make their lives more meaningful and safe.
Such events contribute to the formation of a responsible worldview and help young people make conscious choices in favor of a healthy future.
