AIU AS A PLATFORM FOR DIALOGUE ON EDUCATION AND LOGISTICS WITHIN THE «BELT AND ROAD» INITIATIVE

On April 25, 2025, the Astana International University became a platform for an important dialogue on the future of education and logistics in the context of the global "Belt and Road" initiative. The round table, organized by the Research Institute of the New Eurasian Land-Sea Intermodal Transport Corridor and the Higher School of Economics of AIU, brought together leading experts from academia, government agencies, and industry organizations to discuss key issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

The round table's moderator, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Higher School of Economics of AIU, Kazhiken Meiram Zekeshuly, set the tone of the discussion with his opening report on "The Middle Corridor in the Focus of Interests of Kazakhstan and China." He emphasized the growing strategic importance of this transport route and the need to consolidate efforts for its further development.

Leading experts presented diverse perspectives on cooperation within the "Belt and Road" initiative. Indira Aubakirova, Director of the Institute of Legislation and Legal Information of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy and academic exchanges. Manarbek Kabaziev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, highlighted the prospects for the development of energy corridors between China and Central Asia. Zhaslan Zhagparov, Deputy General Director of the Kazakhstan Union of Transport Workers "KAZLOGISTICS," focused on the development prospects of transport corridors in the region. Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Vice President of Astana International University, spoke about Kazakhstan-China cooperation in education and culture.

Svetlana Kozhirova, Professor of the International University of Astana, analyzed the problems and prospects of the development of transport routes in Central Asia. Saule Koshanova, Director of the Beijing University of Language and Culture branch campus in Kazakhstan (BLCU Kazakhstan), highlighted the issues of cultural and humanitarian interaction between Kazakhstan and China. Zubirash Smagulova, Dean of the Higher School of Economics of the International University of Astana, presented the possibilities of dual degree education. Azamat Nurseitov, Chief Researcher of JSC "Institute of Economic Research," shared his vision of Kazakhstan-China relations.

A significant aspect of the event was the online participation of experts from China. Sun Jun, Dean of the Business Faculty of Jiangsu Ocean University and Executive Director of the New Eurasian Land-Sea Transport Corridor Research Institute (China), and Dong Shaozeng, Associate Professor of the Department of Logistics and Marketing of Jiangsu Ocean University, presented analysis on the role of the port of Lianyungang and the strategic importance of the Central Asian transport corridor within the initiative.

Nurlan Nurseitov, Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Entrepreneurship of the Deutsch-Kasachische Universität, also participated online with a report on "Freight Traffic Management along the Middle Transport Corridor: Current Status and Prospects," offering his recommendations for optimizing logistics processes.

The relevance of the round table is due to the increasing role of Kazakhstan in global logistics and the need to train a new generation of specialists capable of working effectively in a globalized environment. The theme of the event is directly related to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education) through discussions on personnel training and the development of educational programs, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through the training of specialists for the transport and logistics industry, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of transport corridors, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international cooperation and dialogue. Following the fruitful discussion, a collection of reports and analytical materials will be prepared, which will become a valuable resource for the further development of scientific, educational, and logistical cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. MASTERCLASS BY A PROFESSOR FROM TOMSK STATE UNIVERSITY AS PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE: THE ROLE OF....

On April 24, 2025, within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference AIU-2025: Kazakhstan and the International Educational Space: Cooperation for the Future, a masterclass was held on the topic “Current Trends in Human Resource Management in the Context of Globalization.” The masterclass was conducted by Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at the Institute of Economics and Management of Tomsk State University, Olga Pavlovna Nedospasova.Participants of the event included university faculty members as well as partners from the Bureau of National Statistics and ForteBank JSC.During the session, key trends in HR, recruitment, and motivation were discussed. Olga Pavlovna also presented advanced approaches in personnel management, explored methods for organizational adaptation to new realities, and shared effective techniques for developing soft skills.Human resource management is a crucial element for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 “Quality Education” and SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth.”

Holding such masterclasses contributes to a deeper understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of modern HR approaches. Participants actively asked questions, shared professional insights, and expressed interest in future collaboration.

Roundtable "Children's University Network of Kazakhstan: Experience Exchange and Development Prospects"

On April 23, 2025, a roundtable on the development of the Children's University Network of Kazakhstan was held at Astana International University within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "AIU-2025: Kazakhstan and the International Educational Space: Cooperation for the Future."
The event took place in a hybrid format — in person (Astana, Building 1, Room 207) and online (via Zoom platform).

The moderator of the roundtable was Saule Kairollovna Damekova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the "Informatics" Educational Program of the Pedagogical Institute at AIU.
Participants included Saltanat Manarbekovna Bolysbekova, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, leaders of the Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Geography departments of the Children's University of AIU, as well as Gulim Sailaubekovna Karimova, PhD, Deputy Director of the Pedagogical Institute, Head of the "English Language" Educational Program at AIU — Aliya Amangeldiyevna Akimkhanova.
The event opened with welcoming remarks by Zhanna Kuanyshevna Akhmadieva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Director of the Pedagogical Institute.

Presentations at the roundtable were delivered by:
• Jolanta Rozowska, President of the European Children's Universities Network (Poland), who spoke about the development of Children's Universities in Poland;
• Liza Naviy, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor at Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University (online), who discussed the organization of a Children's University in the context of global competency formation;
• Saule Kairollovna Damekova, who presented the experience of AIU's Children's University in the format of open education for children.

During the open discussion, N.N. Nurmukhanbetova, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Head of the Children's University at Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University, emphasized the strategic shift from experimental initiatives to the systemic integration of Children's Universities into the university and regional development ecosystems.

Key areas for development were discussed: scientific elaboration of educational initiatives, project-based learning involving university students, transformation of developments into sustainable formats, and commercialization of educational products.
The participants prepared a joint statement proposing the inclusion of these areas into the strategic development plans of universities and ensuring financial support at the initial stages of project implementation.

As part of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "AIU-2025: Kazakhstan and the International Educational Space: Cooperation for the future", organized by Astana International University on April 23, 2025, the Higher School of Economics held a round table on the topic: "Adapting education to the modern needs of an economically active person". This event, traditionally held for the second year in a row in accordance with the research plan "Adaptive Economy Model", is aimed at promoting sustainable development Goals, especially in terms of stimulating sustainable economic growth and employment, ensuring inclusive and high-quality education, as well as developing international cooperation in the field of education.

The moderator of the round table was Doctor of Economics, Professor Kazhyken Meiram Zekeshuly, Head of the School of Adaptive Economics at the Higher School of Economics. During the discussions, the participants actively raised the issues of transforming educational programs, taking into account the demands of the modern economy, increasing entrepreneurial activity and developing human capital as a key resource for sustainable development. Presentations by scientists, invited speakers, and experts from various fields were full of practical examples, research results, and constructive suggestions.

The round table became a platform for productive dialogue between scientists, young researchers, doctoral students, undergraduates and interested students, facilitating the exchange of experience and strengthening scientific ties. All the presentations aroused great interest, which indicates the high level of relevance of the topics discussed. At the end of the event, in a solemn atmosphere, the participants were presented with the monograph of Professor Kazhiken M.Z. "Human capital and human potential", which was the result of research work within the framework of the Adaptive Economy Model project for 2024.
